The principle of giving back to the society stems from our visionary founder Sir Shri Ram, so Social Responsibility is literally in our DNA! We at DCM Shriram have stood by our legacy as a Socially Responsible citizen, helping our communities in times of this pandemic also.
Since this pandemic has caused an unprecedented situation, it demands extraordinary efforts from our side. This requires every one of us to step up, volunteer and channelize our efforts to help the communities in need.
‘WeVolunteer’ is the Employee Volunteering Program of DCM Shriram that has been designed with a philosophy to help keep the spirit of volunteering and kindness alive because the world needs it now more than ever before. It will act as a bridge to maximize the impact of our employee volunteering activities in a structured way and create a positive social impact.
In light of the current scenario of COVID-19, we have curated a few virtual volunteering opportunities which can be undertaken from the safety of your own home! Based on our recent survey and interests shown by you we have partnered with a few credible NGOs to help you volunteer and make a difference through various initiatives.
This Diwali, let’s make a difference by illuminating the lives of school children. DCM Shriram Foundation is proud to announce the ‘Light a Lamp’ campaign under its WeVolunteer program that will help children in enhancing their learning.
As many as 250 million students in India live in an area that is off-the- grid and many others face severe power shortages at home frequently. In such a scenario, these children have to rely on kerosene lamps that adversely affect their eyesight and also expose them to noxious fumes.
Solar lanterns help in eliminating these risks by using bright LEDs that do not emit pollutants. It is proven that school children are able to achieve better academic results using solar light when compared to children with limited access to electricity. This Diwali lets experience the spirit of gratitude. #DiwaliofGratitude
Every child deserves a happy and healthy childhood, with an opportunity to go to school, learn and grow. Unfortunately, not all children have the same access. There are thousands of underprivileged school students in India who lack access to even the most basic necessities, one of them being electricity. This not only hinders their day to day activities, but makes it a struggle for them to study or complete their homework.
These children deserve more. And what better time than Diwali to bring light into their lives?
We at DCM Shriram are determined to make this Diwali a #DiwaliofGratitude for hundreds of underprivileged children by bringing happiness into their lives.
This Diwali we want to help underprivileged school children of Loni village in Hardoi District, Uttar Pradesh under our Khushali Shiksha program. To further this initiative, WeVolunteer has launched ‘Light A Lamp’ campaign under which we will be giving these children a solar lantern.
These lanterns will help them study and empower them to continue focusing on their school work. Your contributions will ensure that they are no longer in the dark, and that their future is filled with opportunities.
Join us in this mission to give hundreds of children in India a brighter future.
One Lantern costs Rs. 1040, you can choose to donate a minimum of one Lantern or more. Each solar lantern is a 3-4 watt lantern, 6 volt with a 4.5 SMF battery. This will come along with a 3 watt solar panel, mobile charger and a 6 months warranty.
