Mr. Kaul graduated in Chemical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Srinagar, University of Kashmir in 1972.

In 1990 he attended an Integrated Management Development course at Administrative Staff College, Hyderabad. In 2000 he attended an Executive Programme at Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, U.S.A. Mr. Kaul has got a wide experience in the erection, commissioning, operation, maintenance and management of Power, Fertiliser, Cement, Chemical and Petrochemical Plants. He has made remarkable contributions in the energy efficiency improvement measures, as well as troubleshooting of process plants. He has been continuously working to ensure sustainable development of the complex at Kota.

Mr. Kaul has travelled extensively all over the world and has shared his experiences through interactions with technical experts in various conferences. Mr. Kaul has held many senior positions in Fertiliser Association of India, Cement Manufacturers Association, Institution of Engineers, (India), Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, All India Organisation of Employers, and Employers Association of Rajasthan. He is also on the Board of various educational bodies such as Vardhman Mahavir Open University, Kota, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Kota and Bundi and Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. Mrs. Geeta Kaul, his wife, complements Mr. Kaul in all social endeavours. They have two children a son and a daughter.
